New availability for virtual machines in the cloud was announced by web hosting provider eApps on Wednesday. The expansion was made possible by a new presence representing 183 thousand square feet of currently operational space in Richmond, Virginia at a data center campus managed by Quality Technology Services.

The move expands the web host’s data center infrastructure that already includes a currently operational presence at a facility in Atlanta, Georgia.
“eApps Hosting has a strong relationship with QTS going back to 2005. We value their technical expertise and appreciate the personal service we receive. Expanding into their Richmond facility was a logical extension of our relationship,” the company stated in a blog post regarding the matter.
Meanwhile, Quality Technology Services is moving ahead with future plans at the site. The Virginia data center will eventually include an extra 500 thousand square feet of space for tenant development.
While Richmond, Virginia represents the state’s capital, it’s not necessarily the most significant plus to the facility’s location. Cited by eApps was its short distance to the U.S. capital, the District of Columbia.
In a press release, eApps highlighted some of the major pluses of the data center. By offering high availability services, the company said it was working to further expand them across “geographical data center locations for maximum up-time.” Also emphasized were the company’s disaster recovery solutions crafted for clients using “mission critical sites.”
The eApps virtual machine system itself is integrated within management provided from cloud solutions company OnApp. To mark the new availability, eApps celebrated by providing customers with a 75% discount for hosting at the new facility during their first subscribed month.
eApps specializes in providing cloud hosting in areas including virtual machines, Windows, dedicated, reseller and enterprise email. Just last month, the company unveiled a revamp of its web presence primarily through eApps.com. For more information on the Virginia data center, view a blog post from eApps here (blog.eApps.com).
